Oxford Downs were displaced as Division 1 leaders for the first time this season when they lost for the second week running, this time at home to Buckingham Town.

Andrew Fletcher top scored with 64 in Town’s 208 all out, while Simon Launder took 3-31 and Daryl Johnson 3-60.

Jason Ell (5-54) and Vishal Valambhia (3-41) then combined to dismiss Downs for 145, with only Oliver Bailey (40) putting up much resistance.

So Downs have gone from being 32 points ahead of Cumnor to four points behind in the space of eight days.

A declaration set up Shipton-under-Wychwood’s 68-run home win over Bourton Vale.

Skipper Simon Hole hit 90 and Graham Newhook 51 to allow Hole to call his players in after 50 overs with the score on 256-9.

Nick Anderson took 4-49 from 13 overs for Vale, but only Jack Boone (42) and John Nicholson (35) of the visiting batsmen showed much resolve against Ryan Newhook (4-49) as they slipped to 188 all out.

Shipton-under-Wychwood 25, Bourton Vale 7

Andy Harris took 4-16 in a 13-over spell as Great & Little Tew bundled out Leighton Buzzard Town for 98.

Tew lost one early wicket, but no more as Edmund Gross (50no) and Harry Smith (43no) steered the home side to a nine-wicket win that dumped Town into the bottom two.

Sandford St Martin finally claimed their first win of the season, at the expense of fellow strugglers Banbury Twenty.

Seamer Siphe Mzayidume took 4-42 and spinner Simon Smith 4-41 to restrict Twenty to 154-9.

Hassan Ahmed marshalled the tail to finish unbeaten on 48.

Wickets fell at regular intervals to Steve Hart (4-35) and Ifran Mahmood (3-46) after tea, but Chas Taylor (36no) saw Sandford home by two wickets in the 45th over.

Twenty failed to provide a scorer so will lose five points.

Kingston Bagpuize beat Oxford Downs by two wickets with only three balls to spare.

Matthew Warner gave the Baggies the perfect start by taking 3-4 from his first seven overs, before going on to finish with 4-23 from 14.

Downs were 78-6 after 30 overs, but recovered through Paddy Daniel (50) and Ian Caunce (44) to reach 162-9.

Despite losing wickets, Mar-co Cecchini saw Kingston home with an unbeaten 51.

K Bagpuize 25 pts, Ox Downs 2nd 10

Richard Simpson hit 80 from 60 balls and dad Michael 49 in a 128-run fifth wicket stand for Bicester & North Oxford against Hanborough.

Their 219-6 always looked plenty as Simpson junior (4-34) and Michael Speight (3-43) humbled Hanborough for 131.

Witney Mills’s first win since May 8 came in a thriller against Bledlow Ridge.

Mills made only 136, Geoff Tombs taking 4-24, but despite James Stevens’s 38, Pierre Lefort (5-35) helped reduce the Ridge to 130 all out.

Joe Cockroft took 6-29 and Chris Panter 4-21 as Shipton-under-Wychwood 2nd beat Wallingford by 108 runs.

The hosts were rolled over for only 51 in reply to Shipton’s 159 all out, Tim Senior making 62 and Paul Hemming 42. Warren Ains-worth taking 5-38.

Adam Jones (6-74) took four wickets in 11 balls – including three from four deliveries – as Cumnor 2nd dismissed Gre-at & Little Tew 2nd for 142, Kevin Taylor hitting 67.

The home side then succumbed for 104.
