CAMERON Brannagan hopes to see youngsters from his academy make it professionally at Oxford United after a partnership was agreed with the club.

The midfielder launched the Cam Brannagan Football Academy alongside U’s teammate Simon Eastwood in July 2023, and it offers weekly coaching across five county locations for children aged between six and 14.

It’s been announced that an official partnership between the academy and United’s own, plus Oxford United in the Community, has been arranged.

In a video post on social media, Brannagan said: “We have now got an official partnership with Oxford United. This is something that I am really proud of.

“It’s something I’m really looking forward to because we want to push the next generation through and improve the children as much as possible.

“Looking into the future, if we can get future players coming in and pushing on, and going on to have great careers at Oxford United, that would be a really special feeling for me personally, and I know all the coaches would all be the same.”

The U’s said in a statement: “Oxford United academy and Oxford United in the Community can confirm a partnership with the Cameron Brannagan Football Academy to help secure the best Oxfordshire talent into the club.

“The relationship will ensure that the best young players throughout the county that feature within our own Oxford United in the Community elite development centre, and the midfielder’s academy, will have an opportunity to be seen by Oxford United academy coaches.

“Alongside this partnership, Oxford United academy will continue to rigorously scout the local area for talent, this to ensure that the best boys and girls remain within Oxfordshire as we look to continue to make stars of the future.”

Brannagan has been at United since January 2018, and has scored 55 goals in 296 appearances, while Eastwood rejoined the U’s in June 2016 following a previous stint during the 2010/11 season. The goalkeeper has played 288 times for the club.

The Cam Brannagan Football Academy posted on social media: “We are absolutely delighted to announce that the Cam Brannagan Academy and Oxford United are now official partners.

“This means that the academy will work closely with the Oxford United academy and the community, offering a direct pathway of recruitment for the next generation of star players.

“This is an extremely proud moment for the academy, and Cam and Easty in particular, having been professional footballers for Oxford United for a combined period of 14 years, and now having the opportunity to support and nurture the next generation of players with an exciting pathway to Oxford United is a great reward for all involved.”
