OXFORD United are on the road again this afternoon as they make the trip to Blackburn Rovers.

The Ewood Park outfit sold last season’s Sky Bet Championship top scorer Sammie Szmodics to Ipswich Town last week, but still boast a variety of threats in the team.

Harry Pickering

The 25-year-old left back earned a reputation for his delivery from set pieces when he came through at Crewe Alexandra, and he bagged 10 goals, plus 14 assists, while with the Railwaymen.

He joined Rovers on January deadline day in 2021, and was immediately loaned back to Crewe for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign.

Pickering has racked up 123 appearances for Rovers, scoring four times and providing seven assists.

Lewis Travis

Blackburn’s captain is a dominant figure in the middle of park, boasting all the qualities of a midfield general.

The 26-year-old is a Blackburn academy graduate, and has made 227 appearances since his debut in August 2017.

Last season, a row with former boss Jon Dahl Tomasson saw Travis join Ipswich Town on loan in January.

He played nine times for the Tractor Boys as they clinched promotion to the Premier League.

Sondre Tronstad

A Norway international, the holding midfielder is similar to Travis in that he allows the attacking players in front of him to do the business in the final third.

The 28-year-old joined Rovers from Vitesse Arnhem on a free transfer last summer, and he made 34 Championship starts in the 2023/24 campaign.

He’s started all three of Blackburn’s games so far this season.

Tyrhys Dolan

The 22-year-old winger is another Rovers academy graduate, and has only ever played for the club.

He made his debut in August 2020, and has racked up 166 appearances since then, finding the net on 20 occasions.

Dolan scored the opening goal of the game when Rovers beat Derby County 4-2 in their season opener.

Yuki Ohashi

A summer signing from J League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima, the 28-year-old has been an instant hit at Ewood Park.

The attacker has grabbed three goals in three games, with his two league strikes coming as a substitute.

He’ll certainly be one to watch, whether he starts or comes off the bench.

Andreas Weimann

The vastly experienced 33-year-old forward has had previous permanent spells with Aston Villa, Derby and Bristol City, before linking up with Blackburn on a free transfer this summer.

He’s another that’s started the season strongly, with two goals in three appearances.

His record in the Premier League for Villa reads 113 appearances, with 17 goals and eight assists.
