THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United suffered stoppage time heartache at Coventry City.
JAMIE CUMMING
Made a handful of brilliant saves in the second half to keep out the Sky Blues. Has shown wonderful improvement since first joining on loan in January, and looks like he belongs at the level. MAN OF THE MATCH – 8
SAM LONG
He won’t face too many tougher tests this season than the combination of left back Jake Bidwell and winger Haji Wright. The latter looks a ready-made Premier League player – 6
ELLIOTT MOORE
A couple of solid blocks and interceptions, and will feel hard done by to see his defence concede three times – 7.5
CIARON BROWN
Tidy finish brought United level at 1-1, and he played an important role alongside Moore in limiting Ellis Simms up front – 7.5
JOE BENNETT
Exposed at times, especially in the first half, by the combination of winger Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and right back Milan van Ewijk. BOOKED – 6
RUBEN RODRIGUES
Wasn’t quite in the game in the first half, but then started to find more space after the break, and will claim the assist for Mark Harris – 6.5
WILL VAULKS
Sloppy back pass ultimately lost the game for the U’s, but that shouldn’t detract from another battling display in the middle of the park – 7
CAMERON BRANNAGAN
Similarly to Rodrigues, he found it tough going to stamp his authority on the first half, but he provided the quality when it mattered with the cross for Rodrigues in the lead-up to the Harris equaliser – 7.5

TYLER GOODRHAM
His 100th appearance for United, and showed flashes that he belongs at the level with his ability to see things before others do. BOOKED – 7
MARK HARRIS
Like the rest of the side, a clear improvement in the second half, as he provided a wonderful outlet. Scrappy goal, but for sure he’ll take it – 7.5
PRZEMYSLAW PLACHETA
Had a couple of headers off target, and was caught way too high up the field when Bennett was exposed two v one for the cross for the opening goal – 6
SUBSTITUTES
Idris El Mizouni (for Rodrigues, 57)
Assured on the ball and tried to get the U’s higher up the pitch – 6.5
Matt Phillips (for Placheta, 57)
Demanded the ball when he came on, and looked to make things happen – 6.5
Louie Sibley (for Goodrham, 78)
Dane Scarlett (for Harris, 90)
Unused: Ingram, Kioso, Leigh, McEachran, Ebiowei.
Substitutes who come on after the 75th minute do not get a rating.
