THE younger brother of Oxford United defender James Golding has completed a reported £4 million move away from Chelsea.

Michael Golding, an 18-year-old midfielder, has joined Leicester City on a four-year deal.

He told the club’s official video channel, Foxes Hub: “I’m really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career here at Leicester and working hard to help the team as much as I can.

“Obviously the history of the club speaks for itself. There are great players here and I’m looking to soak up as much information as I can from the senior players, to learn from the staff and hopefully have a great season.”

The Foxes were promoted back to the Premier League last season after winning the Sky Bet Championship title.

Golding played once for Chelsea, replacing Argentina’s World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez during a third round Emirates FA Cup win at home against Preston North End in January.

His older brother, 19, has played nine times for the U’s, having made his professional debut back in October 2021.

The brothers both emerged through the academy system at AFC Wimbledon.
