TYLER Goodrham has found himself as the latest Oxford United player to not be selected for international duty, despite an impressive campaign.

The 20-year-old sparkled for the U’s this season, grabbing eight goals and four assists in Sky Bet League One, as United earned promotion to the second tier of English football.

However, like Mark Harris last week, Goodrham has not been selected to represent his country during the off-season international period.

Republic of Ireland Under-21s take on Croatia Under-21s and then England Under-20s in a pair of friendlies on Friday and next Tuesday respectively, but Goodrham will play no part in the games.

The U’s attacker obtained Irish citizenship last year, eligible through his father’s side of the family.

He was called up for the first time, for European Championship qualifiers against Turkey and San Marino, but suffered a hip problem while at the training camp, before he could make his international debut.

Brighton & Hove Albion’s Andrew Moran, Norwich City attacker Tony Springett, Millwall winger Aidomo Emakhu and Leyton Orient attacker Ollie O’Neill are among the England-based players included in the latest Ireland Under-21 squad.

Goodrham joins Harris in being left out of an international squad, after the latter was omitted for Wales’ friendlies against Gibraltar and Slovakia this month.

The 25-year-old scored 19 goals in 55 appearances for United this season, spearheading the attack to secure promotion to the Championship.

Harris has won five caps for Wales and was part of the squad at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, without making an appearance.

While Harris wasn’t included, right back Fin Stevens was called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time, having been capped 17 times at Under-21 level.

The 21-year-old spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan with the U’s from Brentford, playing 43 times.

Two United players who will be on international duty though are defenders Ciaron Brown and Greg Leigh.

Brown is in the Northern Ireland squad, as they prepare for friendlies against Spain and Andorra.

The 26-year-old will be vying for a centre back spot with Eoin Toal of Bolton Wanderers, who the U’s beat 2-0 at Wembley in the League One play-off final. Trotters striker Dion Charles is also included in the Northern Ireland squad.

Left back Leigh has been named in the Jamaica squad for their World Cup qualifiers against the Dominican Republic, and Dominica.

The Reggae Boyz are then in Copa America action later this summer, taking on Mexico, Ecuador and Venezuela in the group stages.
