OXFORD United Women kept up the pressure on third-placed Rugby Borough with a 2-0 win at Billericay Town.
Lacy-Jai Liggett opened the scoring after quarter of an hour when a Cecily Wellesley-Smith shot was deflected by goalkeeper Alex Baker, with Liggett pouncing on the ball at the back post to slot home.
Ellie Noble went close to doubling the lead when her long-range effort bounced back off the crossbar, but the U’s had to settle for a one-goal advantage at the break.
With just over 20 minutes to go, good combination play from Zoe Barratt and Sarah King saw a chance created for Jenna Legg, whose shot drifted along the goal line.
United claimed the three points though, when a Shaunna Jenkins rocket from the edge of the penalty area found the back of the net.
