THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United were held to a 1-1 draw at Shrewsbury Town on Good Friday.
JAMIE CUMMING
Made a wonderful diving save to tip away a Carl Winchester strike in the first half, but question marks over whether he should do better for the equaliser. It’s not the first time the Chelsea loanee has been beaten by a shot from the edge of the box coming through a crowd of bodies – 6
SAM LONG
Aiden O’Brien got into some dangerous positions down his side, particularly in the first half, but he was relatively untroubled in the second period – 6
ELLIOTT MOORE
His clipped ball over the top led to the opener, and he directed a header wide from a corner not long afterwards – 7
CIARON BROWN
Wasteful in possession, especially so in the first half, when balls down the side or into the channel were regularly overhit – 5.5
JOE BENNETT
Stoppage time free kick was inches away from finding the net, while he offered a decent presence going forward – 6.5

RUBEN RODRIGUES
Had a shot on target blocked by Chey Dunkley, but otherwise, his ability to influence the game was fairly minimal – 6
CAMERON BRANNAGAN
Effort was cleared off the line when the score was brought back to 1-1, and he had a couple of other cracks at goal during the game. As the sole deep midfielder, there were a few instances in the first half where the hosts were able to bypass him with ease, but that was shored up in the second period. MAN OF THE MATCH – 7.5
BILLY BODIN
His goal cannoned off the underside of the crossbar, while he arguably should’ve had a second when he was denied while one-on-one with Marko Marosi – 7

OWEN DALE
Dangerous when running at opponents and weaving his way forward, but cutting edge in the final third was the major thing lacking – 7
MARK HARRIS
Early chance was thwarted by the feet of Marosi, when he should’ve hit the target, but the assist for Bodin was a smart one – 6.5
JOSH MURPHY
A much quieter display compared to the standards he has set recently, but still threatened when he had the chance to – 7
SUBSTITUTES
Josh McEachran (for Rodrigues, 67)
Came on and slotted into the deep-lying midfield slot, allowing Brannagan to push forward – 6
Marcus Browne (for Harris, 67)
Replaced Harris in a straight swap, and was dangerous pretty much whenever he got on the ball, driving at the heart of the Shrews defence – 7
James Henry (for Bodin, 87)
Tyler Goodrham (for Dale, 87)
Unused: Eastwood, Thorniley, Leigh.
Substitutes who come on after the 75th minute do not get a rating.
