OXFORD United Women’s trip to AFC Bournemouth will be a milestone match for manager Liam Gilbert.

The U’s boss brings up 100 games in charge of the club in today’s FA Women’s National League Cup Determining Round tie (2pm).

Gilbert took over in July 2018 and United have gone from strength to strength, finishing second in FA Women’s National League Southern Premier last season and leading this term’s table.

“It seems like a blur,” he told United’s official website.

“I was left to pick up the pieces when we got relegated from the Championship and its been an unbelievable experience.

“I’ve been really grateful to work with some fantastic players and coaches.

“We’ve had some phenomenal support over the years and its nice to see where the club is, the support that we have now, the way we are competing and to see the crowds we are getting on a Sunday.”

Bournemouth are top of Division One South West, one level below the U’s.

“It will be lovely to get 100 games in but, at the end of the day, each game is the most important,” Gilbert added.

“They’re a very good team and we cant take them for granted, especially if we want to advance in the cup.”

The tie takes place at Ringwood Town’s Macra Community Stadium.
