ROSS Jenkins has urged Oxford United fans to get their football fix at Oxford City tomorrow.

The Vanarama National League South club are at home to Bath City (3pm), while their neighbours have a free weekend after their Sky Bet League One clash with Fleetwood Town was postponed.

City’s ten biggest home attendances last season came when United were playing away or not in action and that pattern looks set to continue this term.

The sixth-tier side’s largest crowd of the campaign was the only home game that has not clashed with a U’s fixture at the Kassam Stadium, as 556 fans watched the win over Hampton & Richmond Borough on August 29.

After four attendances of 1,000-plus last term, Jenkins hopes his side will be backed in numbers tomorrow.

The City head coach said: “Because Oxford United don’t have a game it would be great if the local supporters come and support the second team in Oxford.

“We normally play well with a big crowd, it does give the boys a lift.

“It just shows what we can do in the future, boosting our numbers and getting attendances even higher.

“Every season we’ve increased so we’re progressing, but it would be brilliant to get those fans down to watch, cheer us on and give us that support we need.”

City’s average crowd increased by 75 per cent between 2018/19, the previous season with full capacity grounds, and 2021/22.

They twice broke their attendance record for a league fixture, with 1,208 supporters attending the Boxing Day win over Slough Town and 1,349 fans flocking to the RAW Charging Stadium for the play-off eliminator against Eastbourne Borough.

City are aiming to return to winning ways after three straight defeats in National League South, leaving them 11th in the table.

Bath are sixth, but they needed a replay to overcome Pitching In Southern League Premier South side Hartley Wintney in the Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round this week.

Jenkins said: “Obviously they’ve had a tough couple of games in the FA Cup, so hopefully we can use that to our advantage.

“By no means is it going to be an easy game, they’re sitting in the top half for a reason.

“They’ve strengthened their team quite well and they’ve had a really good start, so it’s going to be a competitive game for sure.”

Meanwhile, third face second in National League North as Banbury United host Scarborough Athletic.

The Puritans are a point behind tomorrow’s visitors, who are on an eight-match winning run.

Banbury had just 12 players available for their FA Cup win at Stratford Town in midweek and Jay Williams remains suspended, but Harry Parsons and Sam Brown are set to return.

Ex-Puritans winger Morgan Roberts was yesterday named National League North player of the month for August. His displays earned him a deadline-day move to Swindon Town.

North Leigh are aiming to avoid an unwanted first when they return to Premier South action tomorrow.

The Millers are on the road at Harrow Borough, who remain winless eight games into the season.

North Leigh are 18th, two points and three places above their opponents.

Didcot Town will aim to prevent Tavistock claiming another Oxfordshire scalp in this season’s Isuzu FA Trophy.

The Railwaymen travel to Devon tomorrow to face a fellow step four side in the second qualifying round.

Tavistock beat Kidlington 4-2 on penalties ten days ago to reach this stage, while Didcot also needed a shoot-out to progress – overcoming Hamworthy United 5-4 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Thame United welcome Isthmian League South Central high-fliers Binfield.

Mark West’s men face a side who have made an unbeaten start to the league season, winning four of their first five matches.
