Oxfordshire Senior Cup
Oxford Utd 0, North Leigh 1
NORTH Leigh secured a place in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a fairly strong Oxford United side on Wednesday evening at Court Place Farm.
United fielded six players with first team experience, but North Leigh battled hard for their victory.
A flowing move down the right brought the only goal of the game when Mark Simms sent Chris Allen clear.
Allen squared the ball for the incoming Simon Futcher, who drew goalkeeper Sam Warrell before slotting home in the tenth minute.
The west Oxfordshire side more than matched United for the remainder of the half, while after the break, chances were created at either end.
Joel Ledgister's 12-yard volley was brilliantly saved, while Alex Fisher's strike from eight yards hit the inside of a post and James Mortimer-Jones cleared another effort off the line.
United were denied again in the last minute when a Declan Benjamin cross struck Danny Rose a yard out, but didn't go in.
