SEAN Walkinshaw was delighted to clinch victory in Fuji and reclaim the Super GT Championship lead.
The Chipping Norton driver, who partners Shinichi Takagi in the Autobacs Racing Team Aguri in the GT300 series was part of a dominant performance in Japan.
Their victory in the fifth round marks Walkinshaw’s third career Super GT win.
After qualifying second, the duo, who have now triumphed at Fuji three times in a row, went onto secure victory by a margin of close to 50 seconds.
Walkinshaw said: “It’s amazing.
“Obviously Fuji is great for us, Shinichi-san did an amazing job to get past the No 25 car at the start and from then on he bolted away and I got in the car with a nice lead.
“I just did nice qualifying laps after that, it’s fantastic.”
The next round is at Sportsland Sugo, Japan, on September 15-16.

BRADLEY Smith posted the 13th fastest time at yesterday’s MotoGP test in Brno, Czech Republic.
It followed Sunday’s Grand Prix at the circuit where the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider was taken out on the first lap.
A stewards inquiry into the incident, which also involved Stefan Bradl and Maverick Vinales, decided no further action was to be taken.
