Carterton bowler Dan Wakeman’s hopes of going one better than last year in the Oxfordshire under 25 singles final were dashed as he went down 21-14 to Banbury Central’s George Schwab in the final at South Oxford.

The pair now go on to represent Oxfordshire in the National Junior Singles Championship at Worthing on Saturday, August 10.

lWitney Town kept up their battle to avoid the drop with a shock 4-2 win at Division 2 leaders Bicester in the Oxford & District League, sponsored by Yarnton Nurseries.

Chipping Norton stayed in the Division 3 promotion hunt as they beat Woodstock 6-0. In Division 4, Chadlington thrashed South Oxford B 6-0.

Carterton scored a ton in a 5-1 win at Banbury Chestnuts in Division 1.
