Cokethorpe’s Redford Curtis threw 55.47m in the intermediate javelin to earn himself a fifth-place finish at the English Schools Track and Field Championships at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham last weekend.
Henry Box pupil James Currah was seventh in heat two in the boys’ intermediate 800m with a time of 1.59.98 and failed to qualify for the semi-finals Lois Waknell, from Cokethorpe school, was unable to make it beyond the first round of the girl’s intermediate 100m, finishing fifth in her heat in 12.6 secs.
Chipping Norton’s Megan Humphreys did make it past round one in the intermediate 800m.
However, she failed to advance beyond the semi-final stage, finishing seventh in 2.16.91. Jessica Barker, from Burford, failed to qualify for the semi-finals of the girls’ junior 200m.
Her time of 26.26 secs earning her a fifth-place finish in her heat.
