SIR – Upon a short walk across Langel Common recently there were two trollies in the river and one on a path, all three from Sainsbury’s which is quite a walk away.
Why on earth do the supermarkets not put restrictors on the trollies to stop them leaving the car park. I know it can be done and is common practice in other areas. It would cost a bit more but save them having to collect them, having to repair them and the swans, as so beautifully pictured in the latest Gazette, not to be injured by them.
The big supermarkets need to act now.
