Sir – I recently attended the Oxfordshire County Council exhibition in Witney showing the proposed changes for the Ducklington Lane traffic improvement scheme, which seems to offer a significant improvement over the current layout.
While there, I asked about progress on the Shores Green four-way interchange, which I understood was to be given top priority following the cancellation of the Cogges Link Road.
I received a very negative response and was told that there were many problems, such as buying necessary land from a local farmer and having no funding for the scheme.
I got the distinct impression that the county council was giving Shores Green no priority at all, possibly because its favoured choice of Cogges was thrown out.
Could it be the council secretly wants to see a resurrection of the Cogges Link Road when Witney becomes swamped with the completion of all the proposed housing developments?
