Sir – On Friday evening, July 5, we were invited as grandparents to the end-of-season presentation for Tower Hill under-14s football team.
We were very surprised to learn that most of these boys had played together for nine years and that the manager, Mark Evans, and coach, Carl Wheeler, had been with them all this time.
With hard work and dedication from both the managers and players they have improved year on year and this year won the county cup.
We were also impressed by the politeness and friendliness of all the boys, who are well supported every week by their families and friends.
Unfortunately, due to pressure on the demands on the ground, Witney has now lost a promising bunch of players that has now been offered the opportunity to play at North Leigh, taking with them the manager, trainer and a very generous sponsor.
Alan and Phyllis Clarke, Quarry Road, Witney
