A little brightness is coming to those long winter nights as Witney is preparing to light up for Christmas.

This year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On, organised by the Rotary Club of Witney, takes place on Friday (November 29).

The annual family event will have live music and entertainment, Santa’s Grotto, food, a funfair and stalls stretching from the Market Square through to the High Street.

On the stage spectators will be entertained by the Wood Green Swing Band, Madley Brook Community Primary School choir and the West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Organiser Ron Spurs from the Rotary Club of Witney said: “The lights switch-on brings Christmas to the centre of Witney.

"We look forward to seeing many of our local residents at the Market Square to see the incredible new style Christmas lights, designed and installed by Witney Town Council."
