Public notices are adverts placed by councils and other local authorities to inform people of developments in their areas.

They can cover a wide variety of topics that may impact your life.

They can include planning applications and appeals, road closures or proposals by pubs or nightclubs hoping to change their opening hours or make other variations.

The purpose of a public notice is to make sure anybody - either an individual or a group - with an interest has an opportunity to find out about and comment on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to allow it to go ahead.

Oxford, Jack Straws Lane: The road will be closed from November 27 to repair defects to the water mains which are anticipated to be completed on December 10, 2024.

There is no entry for vehicles in Jack Straws Lane between the junction of Dorris Field Road and outside No. 20. This is a 24-hour road closure.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of Jack Straws Lane.

The alternative route for traffic is via Jack Starw’s Lane, B4495, B4150 or A420, B4495.

Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians.

Oxford, Crown Street: The road closure which started on November 18 continues.

This is because of sewer repairs which are anticipated to be completed December 6, 2024. Works will operate between 8am and 5pm.

There is no access for any vehicle proceeding through Crown Street for the works outside No.7.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Access will be maintained for cyclists and pedestrians. The alternative route for traffic is via Crown Street, Cowley Road, James Street, St Marys Road and vice versa.

Oxford, Cherwell Street/Dudley Gardens: An emergency footpath closure notice was issued for the part of the footpath alongside Dudley Gardens at the end of Cherwell Street on November 28.

This continues in force to prevent access due to the partial collapse of the retaining wall and footpath adjacent to the river.

Works are anticipated to be completed by September 12, 2025.

This is a 24 hour footpath closure.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, for works and for pedestrian access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of footpath.

The alternative route is signed locally. Appropriate signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Latest project on Botley Road: The latest large project on Botley Road is Thames Water replacing a leaking water pipe under Osney Bridge which was damaged by an Environment Agency boat in April 2021.

The repair work started this month and is expected to last until April 2025.

Vehicles will continue to temporarily prohibited from: 1. Botley Road from Mill Street to Becket Street; 2. Becket Street from Frideswide Square southwards for 35 metres; 3. Parking suspended in Becket Street as above; 4. Cripley Road, from Botley Road to Cripley Place; 5. Abbey Road from Botley Road to Cripley Place;6. Cripley Place, for its whole length; 7. Roger Duman Way.

Cripley Road, Cripley Place and Abbey Road will be used for temporary bus turning areas and passenger drop-off and holding points. This rectangular route will also be variously used for local traffic diversions during closures of sections of Botley Road.

Restrictions may be subject to changes of days and times and will be regularly monitored and tailored for best effect.

The alternative routes for traffic are signed via the A34 Oxford ring road.

Election expenses: Giles Hughes, acting returning officer for the Witney constituency has given notice of the expenses of the candidates and election agents incurred during the General Election on Thursday July 4, 2024.

The documents can be inspected at West Oxfordshire District Council Elections Office, Council Offices, Woodgreen, Witney, OX28 1NB, during normal office hours within the next two years.
