Shoppers in Minster Lovell will once again have the chance to win a range of prizes by taking part in a karaoke competition this Christmas.
A.F. Blakemore, the wholesaler for SPAR stores, has announced the summer SPARaoke campaign will be returning this Christmas.
Ian Lewis, director of the Minster Lovell store, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of SPARaoke here at SPAR Minster Lovell once again.
"It’s always an incredible event that brings our community together, and we can’t wait to share another exciting experience with everyone."
In celebration of the festive season, the competition will run alongside SPAR's Big Deals promotion.
Roy Wood, the lead singer of Wizzard and the man behind the Christmas classic, 'I Wish It Could be Christmas Everyday', has lent his song to the event.
Visiting the SPAR Western Downs store in early November to kick off the campaign, he said: "It’s a real pleasure to work with SPAR on this campaign.
"I wrote this song with the intent of bringing joy to people at Christmas time. The track is now over 50 years old but is still a big deal at Christmas.
"I just loved the idea that we could turn the everyday shopping experience into something a little more joyful."
The SPARaoke event will be held across four consecutive Saturdays in 100 stores, and is running until December 14 having started on November 23.
To take part, customers need to keep an ear out for 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday' on the SPAR radio in stores.
They can then grab the SPAR mic and sing along to win their basket and a 500ml bottle of Coca Cola, as well as the chance to enter the grand prize draw to win Christmas on SPAR, up to the value of £1,800.
Sarah Ellis, group marketing director of A.F. Blakemore & Son, said: "Christmas is a competitive space, however for us it's always about putting the customer first and bringing a little sprinkle of joy to our local communities.
"We’re pleased to be bringing back SPARaoke which was a huge hit in the summer, but we’re also delighted to be working with Roy Wood, who shares our ethos of bringing joy to customers across the festive period.
"Likewise, we wanted to create a moment that would involve our wonderful store staff, who do so much for their local communities.
"It’s a unique campaign that provides differentiation at a local level."
The campaign also features an exclusive appearance from Coca Cola, a key partner of A.F. Blakemore.
