A banned driver who hit speeds of 99mph on the motorway had a young child in the car, police have said.

An unrestrained child was in the vehicle which police clocked speeding on the M40 last night (November 11).

Officers from Thames Valley Police's roads unit said the driver had no insurance, and was disqualified from driving.

Police are seizing vehicles as part of Operation Jessica, a crackdown on overseas drivers ignoring UK road rules to tax, register and licence vehicles within six months of them being in the UK.

They suggested the driver is on his way to court.

People are urged to report an emergency to Thames Valley Police on 999 if there is a danger to life or someone is being violent, or a suspect is still at the scene.
