Chipping Norton farm's light show to return for 12th year

Fairytale Farm will host its Illuminated Evenings every Saturday and Sunday from October 5 to November 17.

Nick Laister, owner of Fairytale Farm, said: "When we opened Fairytale Farm in 2013, illuminated displays were not widely seen in our area.

"While iconic displays like the Blackpool Illuminations were famous, there was nothing comparable in Oxfordshire or the surrounding regions.

"With Richard’s support, we embarked on an exciting journey to bring a magical illuminated experience to the region."

The idea for Fairytale Farm’s light display began in 2011 when Mr Laister visited Blackpool to plan the project.

In September 2013, Fairytale Farm switched on its lights for the first time, marking the start of what is now an annual tradition.

"Our focus has always been on sustainability, and every feature we introduce is designed with energy efficiency in mind."

Visitors can look forward to an array of lights as dusk falls, including the Enchanted Walk, Mermaid Garden, Fairy Dell, Dino Valley, and Jack’s Yard.

Fairytale Farm's light show (Image: Fairytale Farm) This year, several new features are being introduced, including the first-time illumination of the Fairy Dell and an extension of lights into the animal area.

Lights that can be seen in 2024 include new illuminations in Dino Valley, the Giant’s Camera, the Extinct Band installation, giant party poppers, light fountains, a tunnel of light, and dancing water fountains with an integrated light show.

Fairytale Farm will remain open until one hour after dusk every weekend, with extended hours during the October half-term.

Daytime visitors will also get the chance to experience the illuminations at no extra cost.

Mr Laister added: "We are incredibly excited to welcome visitors to our 12th Illuminated Evenings event.

"This year’s new features will add a touch of magic to an already unforgettable experience.
