A person who was hit by a train has been confirmed dead by British Transport Police.
Officers were called to the line near Swindon railway station at around 5.48pm on Thursday, September 19 with paramedics also in attendance.
Great Western Railway (GWR) confirmed later on in the evening that a person had been struck on the line near Shrivenham.
The person has now been confirmed dead by the British Transport Police.

A spokesperson for BTP said: “Officers were called to the line near Swindon railway station at 5.48pm yesterday (19 September) to reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner."
The gender and age of the person remains unknown at this stage.
Rail services between Didcot and Swindon had stopped as passengers were told their tickets could apply for trains tomorrow instead for Chiltern Railways journeys between Oxford and London Marylebone.

A spokesperson for GWR said: "It is with great sadness that we report a person has been struck by a train, leading to all lines being blocked. It is necessary to bring all trains in the affected area to an immediate stop.
"If you are onboard one of the services in this incident and are distressed by events, please do speak to a member of train crew for assistance.
"Alternatively, if you need to talk with someone privately the Samaritans offer a 24hr phone line available via 116 123."
The rail company also apologised to those who have been met with delays to their journeys.
