‘Jeremy Clarkson poured me a pint at his new Cotswolds pub’

Neil Robinson from Swindon attended the grand opening of the new watering hole in Asthill near Burford on Friday afternoon.

Long queues formed outside the pub prior to the doors being opened by Mr Clarkson himself at midday.

Fans raced in to get their hands on the various Hawkstone pints available but Neil was lucky enough to have the former Top Gear host pour a pint for him.

“I told him well done on the pub when he arrived and he thanked me,” said Neil.

“At the bar, I told him what I wanted and asked him if anyone had bought one for him yet and he said no.

“I offered to get him one but he was quite maxed out with orders and he only did a few minutes at a time at the bar.

“He had other bar staff there, but obviously everyone wanted to be served by Clarkson so that slowed orders down, which is why he only did a few minutes on the bar I think.”

The 36-year-old fan had a great time out at the pub and noticed that Mr Clarkson had even pitched up The Grand Tour tent.

“It was pretty cool to be served by him, quite surreal and the Hawkstone tasted good,” added Neil.

“I really liked the pub, they had the Grand Tour tent set up in the garden with a farm shop and butchers as well. Fair play to him.”
