LEWIS Bate was left disappointed by a home defeat in a game against opposition he feels Oxford United should be beating.
The U’s came out on top against Exeter City in two previous meetings this season, winning 4-2 in the reverse fixture in Sky Bet League One, and 4-1 in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Although above United in the league table, Bate reckons the Grecians are the level of opponent that his teammates should be taking three points against, especially on home soil.
The 20-year-old midfielder, on loan from Leeds United, said after the 1-0 defeat to Exeter: “It hurts. We should be winning these games, we expect to win these games.
“To come away with nothing at home is very disappointing for us.
“Their goal comes from two players not doing their jobs and that’s the bit that’s frustrating.”

“We’ve got to start putting teams to bed, we felt we should’ve been ahead and in the second half, it just wasn’t to be.
“On the pitch, we need to start winning these games so it’s disappointing when we go back into the dressing room after the game and we’ve not got the three points, especially at home.
“We have enough quality in the squad to be where we want to be and to start winning these games.”
