The Cotswold Gateway Hotel in Burford is due to reopen towards the end of November following a major refurbishment.
And to go with a new look the 18th Century coaching inn will have a new name.
The hotel, which is managed by Butcombe Pubs & Inns (part of Liberation Group), will become….The Prince of Burford.
The owners say the new name is a nod to the building’s historic position as the jewel in the crown of Burford.
A new crest will feature a golden lion which was adopted as the town’s seal from its founder Robert Fitzhamon’s coat of arms when Burford was granted a charter in 1090.
All 16 guest rooms and ensuite bathrooms have been redesigned "in a modern twist on classic Cotswold country house styling using the very best furnishings and textiles", said Butcombe.

Downstairs has been transformed with the addition of a purpose-built bar in a newly designed ‘casual’ area complete with snug and reception area, leading through to a new, more elegant dining space and restaurant.
The works continue outside with landscaping, planting and a timber-built, covered pergola and large decked area for alfresco dining and drinking.
But the owners say the hotel will remain very much a ‘proper pub’ for locals.
The menu will feature locally sourced produce, seasonal ingredients and elevated pub classics with a twist.
And the bar will have a wide range of Butcombe Brewing Co’s beers, lager and cider, a curated wine list, premium spirits and a selection of cocktails.
Bookings are now being taken for Christmas gatherings and Christmas Day dining.
