Oxfordshire: Photographer snaps picture of International Space Station

The image was taken by Oxford Mail Camera Club member Bryan Robertson in the village of Leafield, near Witney.

Mr Robertson said the sky was forecast to be clear on Saturday evening as the International Space Station (ISS) was due to cross above the county at 9.10pm.

“Sadly some thin high cloud started to move in, but not before we captured the ISS as it crossed the Milky Way.

“This was a single 30 second exposure so the trail is short, also another satellite was running almost parallel but at a different altitude, being nowhere near the size of the ISS it did not reflect as much sunlight,” Mr Robertson said of the image.

He added the trip was “worthwhile” as he and a fellow photographer managed an hour’s worth of photography before they got too cold.
