A UNIVERSITY Challenge blunder has resulted in Bicester Village trending online.

Last night, on BBC’s University Challenge TV programme an incorrect answer was quickly shared online.

Jeremy Paxman, the show’s presenter, asked students from the University of Exeter and Imperial College London: “What market town between Coventry and Oxford gives its name to the procedure of cryptoanalysis developed by Alan Turing at Bletchley Park to break the German Enigma code?”

Amid a moment of confusion, one student blurted out with confidence that the answer was ‘Bicester Village’.

This led to laughter and Mr Paxham, smiling, replying ‘Bicester Village – that’s a shopping centre isn’t it?’

The correct answer was Banbury.
