A FIRE being linked to the dry weather has swept across farmland in South Oxfordshire.
The grass fire covered an area of 2sq km near Long Wittenham, prompting a response from eight fire engines and a police helicopter, which were called out at 1.12pm yesterday.
Drivers on the nearby A415 were warned about smoke affecting visibility.
A police spokesman said the fire wasn’t being treated as suspicious. Firefighters remained on the scene until about 5pm.
