AN expanded car park at Hanborough railway station will be officially opened today.
The £400,000 First Great Western project has created 191 parking spaces, while Oxfordshire County Council invested £35,000 to improve access.
The car park was opened to commuters a fortnight ago and is already being used by more than 40 cars each day but is being given the official seal of approval by rail officials and politicians today.
The previous 55-space car park was often full by 7am and dozens of drivers used to park on verges alongside the A4095 Main Road and outside nearby homes.
Transport Minister Norman Baker said: “The upgrades at Hanborough station are a great example of how the Department for Transport and Network Rail can improve the experience people have when using rail.”
