NOT everyone at Bartholomew School’s Year 11 dinner and dance arrived on conventional transport.

Two lads pulled up at Oxford Hotel in Godstow Road, Wolvercote, Mod-style. Others came in a Rolls Royce and a Bentley.

They were among the 170 students joined by 30 teachers for the Eynsham school’s 48th annual dance.

It was organised by head of Year 11 James Humm, the Year 11 tutor team and students in a ball committee.

Entertainment included the students and staff completing a set of five formal dances that they are taught during the academic year as part of a tradition that dates back nearly 50 years.

Among the dances were the St Bernard’s waltz and the circle waltz, followed by a disco.

A three-course meal was also on offer to the guests.
