CHILDREN at a Witney school learned how cakes are made at a bakery in the town.
Year six pupils at The Batt Primary School, in Marlborough Lane, visited The Fabulous Bakin’ Boys, in Station Lane, at the end of term.
They learned about how the bakery’s cakes are produced, labelled, packaged and delivered, designed their own cupcakes, weighed ingredients and watched them being baked in the test bakery.
It was part of the Witney Schools Partnership Aspiration Day, an initiative in which pupils visit local businesses.
The bakery’s new product development manager, Richard Henderson, said: “Showing children how a food product is made from start to finish is rewarding for me as a new product innovator.
“They came up with some really creative ideas and names for new cupcake designs and then had the chance to put their designs into action, as a real bakery such as ours would do.
“The Aspiration Day is a great idea to get children and business to work together.”
