A pub in the Cotswolds has been bought by a local villager who plans to restore it to its former glory.

The Crown Inn which is located in Cerney Wick in the centre of the Cotswold Water Park near Cirencester has been sold.

The property has six bedrooms, a lounge bar, a formal dining area, and a small tap room as well as a large patio.

A local villager purchased the pub and has intentions to restore it to its former glory and make it a part of the village community once more.

Planning permission for the construction of two four-bed detached dwellings was granted in 2020 which will allow the new owner to refurbish the property.

The pub was sold by Frasers Real Estate. Christie & Co, a specialist business property announced the news on behalf of Frasers.

Nicholas Calfe, hospitality director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, said:

“The location of the Crown was a big draw, attracting interest far and wide, especially amongst local buyers who were aware of the potential it offers and the opportunity to develop land to the rear.

“Christie & Co received multiple offers for best and final offers, eventually selling to a cash buyer who exchanged and completed the transaction within 6 weeks at an undisclosed price.”
