The restaurant is set in the heart of the English countryside in a cherished manor house hotel.

Over the years, Le Manoir has earned two Michelin stars for culinary excellence.

One recent visitor commented: “This is quite easily the best food I've ever had the pleasure to eat.

“We had the six course lunch tasting menu, which turned out to be eight with canapés and chocs with tea and coffee.

“First class service, beautiful setting and food to die for.”

4. The Perch Inn

The Perch Inn can be found on Binsey Lane in Oxford, close to the river.

It is one of Oxford’s oldest drinking establishments with a pub being on the site for over 800 years.

In that time, The Perch has been a favourite of some of Britain’s best poets and authors, a frequent haunt of Inspector Morse, and even an influential venue on the British Jazz scene.

3. Seven Stars

The Seven Stars can be found in the picturesque village of Marsh Baldon, to the south of Oxford.

The restaurant describes itself as an ‘idyllic country pub’ located close to the ‘bustling historic city of Oxford.’

One recent visitor wrote: “Delicious dishes, perfectly cooked, very friendly staff, traditional village pub including some classy food.

“The menu had variety and novelty as well traditional choices. The dishes were innovative and tasty.

“The atmosphere was buzzing and although busy, the reception was very friendly and the food arrived quickly.”

2. Kings Arms

The Kings Arms is situated by the riverside in Sandford on Thames.

It is a traditional pub with al fresco style dining on hot summer days.

The Kings Arms has a garden which overlooks the river and many guests come from passing boat parties.

The food served at the pub is traditional British cuisine with dishes such as hand-battered cod and chips and Brewer’s Chicken being especially popular.

The Folly is a restaurant in Oxford, found right by the River Thames.

The restaurant’s terrace actually floats on the water, close to Folly Bridge.
