Sir – The alleged purpose of the meeting organised by Bloor Homes in Carterton on Friday, November 8, was one of consultation.
We were asked to complete a questionnaire clearly designed to support the development.
Question 6 asked: “Should Carterton's infrastructure be improved sooner rather than later?” Who is not going to say ‘yes’ to this loaded question?
When asked if noise from the RAF base would be a problem I was told that: “There is no noise problem from the base that would affect our development.”
Asked for some evidence, they said the district council planning department said there was no problem.
What a relief. All the villages surrounding the base can relax, there is no noise problem – it must be our imagination.
David Cameron MP need not bother to attend meetings about noise, he need no longer work with his ministers to find a solution to noise, he only needed to ask Bloor Homes, they could have told him that all his work was a waste of time.
The RAF will be delighted, when answering a noise complaint they can play a recorded message: “Bloor Homes and the planning department have decided that there is no noise problem, good night and thank you for your call.”
The proposed development could only be closer to the base if it was built inside it.
